Wiz (cloud security posture management): BMW Group is a confirmed enterprise customer of Wiz, deploying the platform across its multi-cloud estate spanning AWS and Azure 1. BMW achieved a 95% decrease in critical cloud security issues following Wiz deployment, with the platform’s Log4j incident-response capability identified as a decisive factor in adoption 1. The relationship is confirmed active from approximately 2023 onwards 1. Wiz was co-founded by Israeli entrepreneurs previously leading Azure Security at Microsoft 1.

CyberArk (privileged access management and identity security): BMW Group was named a winner of CyberArk’s 2025 Identity Security Impact Customer Award, announced on 17 April 2025 at CyberArk IMPACT ‘25 in Boston 2. The deployment covers privileged access management, secrets management, and machine identity at enterprise scale across BMW Group 2. CyberArk is headquartered in Petah Tikva, Israel 2.

Verint (knowledge management and contact centre analytics): BMW UK deployed Verint Knowledge Management Professional to serve approximately 330 contact centre agents handling approximately six million annual interactions across the BMW, MINI, BMW Motorrad, and Rolls-Royce brands 3. The platform was branded internally as “Online Genius” and was active from approximately 2015 through at least 2020–2021 3. Verint was founded in Israel as a division of Comverse 3.

Claroty (OT/ICS cybersecurity): BMW i Ventures announced a strategic equity investment in Claroty in December 2018 45. Claroty emerged from the Team8 venture-building organisation, co-founded by former Unit 8200 commander Nadav Zafrir, and Claroty’s founding team includes security researchers with backgrounds in Unit 8200 45. Whether BMW directly procures Claroty as a technology customer beyond the investment relationship is not confirmed in public sources.

Upstream Security (connected-vehicle cybersecurity): BMW i Ventures made a Series C equity investment in Upstream Security in November 2021, following an earlier pilot facilitated through the BMW Technology Office Israel and BMW Startup Garage 67. Upstream provides a vehicle security operations centre (vSOC) platform for connected-vehicle cybersecurity 67.

Cloud and ERP Platform Relationships

BMW ConnectedDrive migrated its entire backend (1,300+ microservices) from on-premises infrastructure to AWS Cloud between 2019 and mid-2023, with the primary control plane in the eu-central-1 (Frankfurt) region 89. Scale of Israeli-Origin Technology Dependency

Wiz secures thousands of cloud workloads across BMW’s AWS and Azure estate and is integrated with AWS Security Hub, providing continuous cloud security posture management and threat detection 1. CyberArk operates at enterprise-wide scale covering BMW Group’s privileged access, secrets management, and machine identity requirements, though the precise geographic and divisional scope is not publicly disclosed 2. Verint’s confirmed scope was limited to BMW UK’s contact centre operations 3.

No public evidence identified of direct BMW procurement relationships with SentinelOne, Palo Alto Networks, NICE Systems, BriefCam, Trigo, or AnyVision/Oosto. No evidence was found that BMW’s systems integrators have specifically mandated or deployed Israeli-origin technology as part of major BMW programmes.

Cartica AI / Autobrains and the Corsight AI Corporate Chain

BMW i Ventures invested in Cartica AI in September 2019 as part of a Series B round 1112. Cartica AI was established in 2018 as a spin-off of Cortica Ltd., an Israeli company developing unsupervised visual AI since 2007 13. BMW i Ventures participated as an existing investor in the Cartica AI / Autobrains Series C round, totalling $101M–$120M, in October–November 2021 1415.

In late 2019, the same Cortica founders - Igal Raichelgauz, Karina Odinaev, and Prof. Joshua Zeevi - established Corsight AI as a separate Cortica subsidiary focused on facial recognition applications 1617. Corsight AI’s ownership structure identifies Cortica Ltd. as holding a 46.91% stake, AWZ HLS FUND II LP holding 31.45%, and AWZ VENTURES III LP holding 20.6% 16. Corsight AI’s board of directors includes Major General (Ret.) Giora Eiland, former Head of the IDF Operations Division and former Head of Israel’s National Security Council, who was appointed to the board in 2021 18.

Multiple sources document that Corsight AI deployed facial recognition technology for the Israeli military in Gaza following the October 2023 ground invasion 191620. Israeli soldiers entering Gaza were reported to be equipped with cameras using Corsight’s technology, and cameras were also reported deployed at checkpoints scanning Palestinians attempting to flee combat areas 1920.

BMW’s confirmed investment was in Cartica AI / Autobrains (the automotive ADAS spin-off), not in Corsight AI 1114. The corporate link between BMW’s investee entity and Corsight AI runs through Cortica Ltd. as the shared parent and founding entity 131617. No BMW equity stake in Corsight AI has been identified in public sources.

Autobrains remained an active company as of March 2026, announcing it had become the first automotive company to apply Agentic AI to ADAS and Automated Driving, with BMW i Ventures listed as an existing investor in that announcement 21.

Facial Recognition, Biometrics, and Retail Analytics

The Yasam (Special Patrol Unit) of the Israel Police - a unit documented as conducting riot control and counter-terrorism operations in East Jerusalem and the West Bank - is documented as operating BMW F800GS and BMW R1200GS motorcycles 2425. The supply chain runs from BMW Motorrad GmbH (manufacturer) through Delek Motors / AEV Group, the exclusive authorised BMW importer and franchisee in Israel, to the Israel Police as end customer 26. Autonomous Driving AI - Israeli Suppliers in Production

Autobrains (formerly Cartica AI): BMW i Ventures has held equity in Autobrains since the September 2019 Series B investment 1112. The technology focuses on unsupervised ADAS and autonomous driving AI for camera-based and sensor-fusion platforms 11. As of March 2026, Autobrains announced the deployment of its Agentic AI ADAS technology with global automotive partners in mass-market vehicle programmes, with BMW i Ventures listed as an existing investor 21.

Innoviz Technologies (LiDAR): BMW selected Haifa-based Innoviz as its series-production LiDAR supplier for automated vehicles in April 2018 29. Innoviz InnovizOne LiDAR entered production in the BMW 7 Series and i7 from 2023, delivering the sensor capability for SAE Level 3 automated driving 2829. BMW and Innoviz achieved SAE Level 3 autonomous driving in the BMW 7 Series using InnovizOne’s high-resolution solid-state MEMS LiDAR 28. Innoviz is currently developing B-samples of the InnovizTwo next-generation LiDAR platform for BMW’s future automated vehicle programmes 273031. AI Provision to State Bodies

No public evidence identified of BMW AI systems, or of Israeli-origin AI tools deployed within BMW’s supply chain, being used in government surveillance programmes, military targeting, or law enforcement analytics outside of the automotive context.

Training Data and Autonomous Systems Lethality

BMW Technology Office Israel

BMW Group opened BMW Technology Office Israel Ltd. in Tel Aviv in mid-2019, constituting the fifth BMW Technology Office globally alongside offices in the USA, China, Japan, and South Korea 3637. The office functions as a technology and trend scouting operation, not a manufacturing or engineering delivery centre 36. BMW Group describes the entity as a “small, agile team” networking with local startups and evaluating technologies in autonomous driving, connectivity, and cybersecurity 36.

BMW Technology Office Israel Ltd. maintains an active LinkedIn presence with content documented as recently as 2024–2025 37. The office is documented as the entity that managed Upstream Security’s pilot project prior to BMW i Ventures’ equity investment in that company 67. BMW Startup Garage extended its operations to Tel Aviv from 2020, operating on a venture-client model under which startups become BMW suppliers while retaining their own equity 36.

BMW Technology Office Israel personnel visited the Technion (Israel Institute of Technology) to explore research collaboration opportunities in autonomous navigation and perception, cognitive robotics, and computational robotics 38. No formal partnership or research funding agreement between BMW and the Technion has been publicly announced 38.

BMW i Ventures - Israeli Investment Portfolio

BMW i Ventures has made confirmed equity investments in the following Israeli-origin companies 39:

Delek Group and BMW’s Israeli distribution channel: Delek Motors serves as BMW’s exclusive authorised importer and franchisee in Israel 26. Delek Motors is a subsidiary of Delek Group Ltd. 4647. Delek Group Ltd. is listed in the OHCHR settlement database for the provision of services and utilities supporting the maintenance and existence of settlements, and for use of natural resources in occupied territories 4445. These activities are attributed to Delek Israel Fuel Company Ltd. - in which Delek Group holds approximately 24% - which operates more than 200 petrol stations including at least 10 in West Bank settlements and 3 in the occupied Golan Heights, and holds contracts to supply the Israeli military and police with fuel 4647. Norway’s KLP pension fund divested from Delek Group in 2021 citing links to settlements, and Norway’s sovereign wealth fund (NBIM) divested in 2023 4647. No public evidence identified that Delek Motors specifically (the BMW distribution subsidiary) operates dealerships or service centres within West Bank settlements.

UN Special Rapporteur A/HRC/59/23 (Albanese, 2025)

BMW Group is not named in the July 2025 UN Special Rapporteur report “From economy of occupation to economy of genocide” (A/HRC/59/23) 23. That report focuses on technology companies including Google, Amazon, Microsoft, IBM, and Hewlett Packard, and defence contractors including Elbit Systems and Lockheed Martin 23.

October 2023 Public Statements

BMW was among approximately 106 German companies that co-signed the “Never Again Is Now” full-page advertisement published in German Sunday newspapers in October 2023, condemning Hamas’s attacks and affirming opposition to all forms of hatred and anti-Semitism 48. BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt issued a separate statement in October 2023 expressing concern about the conflict and solidarity with those suffering; a subsequent acknowledgment noted the initial statement’s omission of Palestine and apologised for this 49.

Institutional Membership

BMW Group is a confirmed member of the German-Israeli Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK Israel), documented in BMW’s own published list of organisational memberships (2025 edition) 50.
