Controlling-Principal Channel - Shamrock Holdings / Tadiran Communications (1999–2004; fully discontinued)

Shamrock Holdings, Inc. is the investment vehicle of the Roy E. Disney family and holds a minority stake in The Walt Disney Company, confirmed at approximately 1.2% as of 2021 ¹². In June 1999, Shamrock Holdings, acting through the entity Trefoil Israel Partner II LP in partnership with First Israel Mezzanine Investors Ltd., acquired a controlling equity position in Tadiran Communications Ltd., described in Shamrock’s own portfolio as an “Israel defense communication contractor” ¹. Fox-Wizel Ltd. (Fox Group) is listed in the Who Profits database as a Disney licensee in Israel ⁹. Fox Group operates retail stores inside Israeli settlements including Ariel, Ma’ale Adumim, and the Gush Etzion cluster in the occupied West Bank, as well as the settlement neighbourhoods of Ramot, Pisgat Ze’ev, and the Atarot Industrial Zone in occupied East Jerusalem ⁹. Boycott and Divestment Campaigns

The BDS National Committee lists Disney+ as a streaming-sector pressure target in its 2024–2025 priority guide but does not list Disney as a primary consumer boycott target on military supply grounds ¹⁷. The stated basis is cultural: Marvel’s Captain America: Brave New World features the character Sabra, an Israeli superhero whose portrayal has drawn sustained criticism as a cultural endorsement of Israeli military identity ¹⁷¹⁸¹⁹. The Boycat movement identifies Disney as a boycott target on three primary grounds: (a) Disney’s $2 million donation to Israeli organisations following the October 2023 attacks ²⁰²¹; (b) Shamrock Holdings’ Israeli real estate investments in settlement-adjacent urban renewal projects ²²²¹; and (c) the Marvel Sabra character ²¹. The Boycat campaign does not allege direct military supply by Disney ²¹.

No public evidence identified of any institutional pension fund or sovereign wealth fund divestment decision specifically citing Disney’s military supply chain.

Corporate Donations - October 2023

On 12 October 2023, CEO Bob Iger publicly announced Disney’s $2 million donation to Israeli humanitarian relief, comprising $1 million to Magen David Adom (MDA) and $1 million to nonprofits focused on children ²⁰²³²⁴. MDA is an IFRC affiliate and Israel’s national emergency medical and blood bank service; it functions as an auxiliary to Israel’s civil defence mechanism (the Home Front Command) and the IDF medical service during wartime, but is recognised internationally as a humanitarian body and not classified as a military organisation ²⁵. Disney’s employee matching gifts programme was made available for Israel-related relief organisations in October 2023 ²³. Controlling Principal - Safra Catz (Disney Board Director, February 2018 – 18 July 2024)

Safra Catz, CEO of Oracle Corporation, served on Disney’s board of directors from February 2018, having been appointed as a new board member that year, until her resignation on 18 July 2024 ²⁶²⁷²⁸. The departure was attributed to a potential conflict of interest arising from Oracle Chairman Larry Ellison’s financing of the Paramount-Skydance deal ²⁶²⁷²⁹. During her Disney board tenure, Oracle under Catz’s leadership: bid for Israel’s Project Nimbus contract - a combined Israeli government-and-IDF cloud infrastructure contract valued at more than $1 billion - in 2021, ultimately losing to AWS and Google ³⁰; constructed a nine-floor underground, missile-hardened data centre in Jerusalem at an approximate cost of NIS 1.2 billion ($319 million), explicitly designed to sustain operations “in the middle of war” ³¹³²; and Catz publicly pledged that Oracle’s “commitment to Israel is second to none” and committed to opening a second underground data centre in Israel ³². Oracle’s formal partnership with Rafael Advanced Defense Systems - to deploy Rafael’s IMILITE (AI-based imagery intelligence system) and FIRE WEAVER (automated sensor-to-shooter target-selection system) on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - was announced on 10 September 2024 ³³³⁴, a date that post-dates Catz’s resignation from Disney’s board. No public evidence identified of any Disney organisational decision or financial benefit arising from Oracle’s defence partnerships with Rafael.

Controlling Principal - Shamrock Holdings / Ahava Dead Sea Laboratories (Occupied Territory Commerce; discontinued)

Shamrock Israel Growth Fund Advisors Ltd., a Shamrock Holdings sub-fund registered with the SEC (CRD No. 162023) ³⁵, held an equity stake in Ahava Dead Sea Laboratories, a cosmetics manufacturer whose operations and raw-material sourcing are associated with the Mitzpe Shalem settlement in the occupied West Bank ³⁶. In 2012, Abigail Disney - a founding family member with an indirect stake through Shamrock Holdings - publicly renounced her profits from Ahava, stating she could not in good conscience profit from what is “technically the ‘plunder’ or ‘pillage’ of occupied natural resources” ³⁷³⁸. She noted at the time that she could not immediately withdraw the investment due to “complicated legal and financial constraints” ³⁷³⁸. Shamrock Holdings sold its Ahava stake in 2016 as part of Fosun International’s full acquisition of Ahava Dead Sea Laboratories ³⁶³⁹. The Ahava relationship is fully discontinued ³⁶³⁹.

Shamrock Holdings - Current Israel Fund Operations

Shamrock Israel Growth Fund Advisors Ltd. continues to operate an Israeli investment fund (SEC-registered, CRD No. 162023) ³⁵. Shamrock has made Israeli real estate investments including a reported urban renewal project in 2022 ²². The fund’s stated investment policy excludes weapons ¹. No public evidence retrieved in this research confirms Shamrock’s current portfolio composition for the 2024–2026 period.

Current Disney Board Composition

Safra Catz is no longer a Disney board director following her 18 July 2024 departure ²⁶²⁷. The 2025 Annual Meeting of Shareholders confirmed the re-election of remaining board members; no Oracle-affiliated director sits on Disney’s current board ⁴⁰.
