Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
OpenIntel ("we", "us", the "site") operates openintel.uk. This policy explains
what information is collected when you visit, how it is used, and the choices you have. We aim to
collect as little personal data as possible.
1. Who we are
OpenIntel is an independent, open-source intelligence project publishing corporate research
dossiers. The site is a static website with no user accounts and no login. For any privacy
question or request, contact us at [email protected].
2. Information we collect
- We do not ask you to create an account and we do not knowingly collect names,
email addresses, or other identifying details, except where you voluntarily submit them (for
example, the company name you type into the "Add a company" form).
- Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting and content-delivery providers
automatically record technical data such as your IP address, browser type, referring page, and
the time of your request. This is used for security, abuse prevention, and aggregate traffic
analysis.
- Cookies and similar technologies. See section 4.
3. Third-party services
We rely on a small number of third parties to operate the site. Each has its own privacy
policy governing the data it processes:
- Google AdSense — advertising. Google and its partners use cookies and
similar identifiers to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's
use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits.
See how Google uses information from sites that use its services
and Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google Fonts — typography is loaded from Google's font servers, which
receive your IP address as part of serving the font files.
- Cloudflare — content delivery, security, and the Turnstile anti-bot
challenge used on the "Add a company" form.
- Ko-fi — if you choose to make a donation, the payment is processed by Ko-fi
and its payment providers. We never see or store your card details.
4. Cookies and your consent
Essential cookies needed for the site to function and for security may be set without consent.
Advertising and other non-essential cookies are only set after you consent via the
cookie banner shown on your first visit. You can change your mind at any time by clearing the
site's data in your browser, which will make the banner appear again.
- EU / UK / EEA users: consistent with Google's EU User Consent Policy and
UK/EU data protection law, personalised advertising cookies are not set unless you accept them.
If you decline, you may still see non-personalised ads.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising across the web at
Google Ads Settings
and aboutads.info/choices.
5. How we use information
- To deliver and secure the website and prevent abuse.
- To understand aggregate traffic so we can improve the content.
- To display advertising that helps fund the project.
- To process company suggestions and donations you choose to submit.
We do not sell your personal data.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the UK GDPR / EU GDPR), you may have the right to
access, correct, or erase personal data we hold about you, to object to or restrict processing, and
to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Because we hold very little personal data, most
requests can be resolved quickly. To exercise any right, email
[email protected].
7. Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country)
and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most
recent change. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
