Reddit’s 14 October 2023 conflict statement expressed concern for people affected in Israel and Gaza and said the company would enforce rules against violence, hateful content, manipulation, and content from US-designated foreign terrorist organizations, including Hamas.1

The statement described specialist internal teams, image and video hashing, keyword alerts, reporting channels for government and law-enforcement officials, and Tech Against Terrorism’s automated URL-alerting system.1

The statement did not endorse the Israeli government, Israel Defense Forces operations, settlements, or an Israeli territorial claim.1

Reddit’s 2024 first-quarter filing characterized the Israel–Palestine escalation as a global event that could profoundly affect communities and moderators, even where the direct business effect was limited.2

For comparison, Reddit’s 2022 Ukraine response described a cross-functional response team, restrictions on RT and Sputnik, cessation of Russia-targeted advertising, and support for Ukraine-based colleagues including advance income payments, housing allowances, and relocation support.3 Reddit’s October 2023 Israel/Gaza statement did not announce comparable advertising restrictions or staff-relocation support; the documents establish a difference in announced measures, not its reason or political effect.1, 3

A 2020 company post described employee donations and internal allyship work in connection with Black Lives Matter, but the source does not establish the continuing status of those activities.4

No public evidence identified in the reviewed primary and independent materials that Reddit’s October 2023 response constituted Israeli-state legitimation.1, 5, 6, 7

Operations in Occupied or Contested Territories

Reddit’s 2025 subsidiary exhibit lists entities across Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Mexico, the Netherlands, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, the United Kingdom, and Delaware, but does not list an Israel-incorporated subsidiary.8

The cited subsidiary exhibit is filing-specific and does not establish the permanent absence of Israel-linked affiliates.8

Reddit’s 2024 first-quarter filing refers generally to international locations and subsidiaries but does not identify an Israeli, Palestinian, West Bank, East Jerusalem, Gaza, or Golan entity, office, contract, reseller, or service arrangement.2

Internal Governance, Content & Retail Policies

Reddit states that its platform model combines volunteer moderators’ community-specific rules with Reddit administrators’ enforcement of sitewide rules using automated systems and human review.11

Reddit reported that 2.66% of content created in the second half of 2024 was removed, with moderators responsible for 42% of removals and proactive AutoModerator actions accounting for 72.5% of moderator removals.11

The second-half 2024 transparency report does not provide an Israel–Palestine-specific enforcement, removal, appeal, or error-rate breakdown.11 Reddit’s first-half 2024 report likewise does not identify Israel-specific government requests.12

Reddit’s first-half 2024 transparency report says government and law-enforcement content-removal requests are assessed for legal sufficiency and consistency with its Content Policy, and that Reddit may seek clarification, push back, or deny requests that are overbroad or inconsistent with international law.12

Reddit’s July–December 2023 report states that it removed 877 pieces of terrorist content, permanently suspended 854 accounts, and banned seven subreddits during that period.5 That report states that 60% of removed terrorist content related to events in Israel and Gaza beginning in October 2023 and that automation flagged 68% of potentially violative terrorist content.5

The July–December 2023 report does not provide a side-specific, language-specific, or rights-category-specific breakdown and therefore does not establish disparate effects on Palestinian advocacy or pro-Israel speech.5

Reddit’s first- and second-half 2025 transparency reports provide platform-wide moderation and legal-request metrics but no Israel/Palestine-specific removal, appeal, automated-enforcement, government-request, or error-rate data; the published reports therefore cannot verify or disprove conflict-specific moderation asymmetry.13, 14 The same limitation existed in Reddit’s first- and second-half 2024 reports.11, 12

A December 2024 academic preprint examined 479,930 comments from four public subreddits during the early conflict period, but it does not establish that Reddit’s corporate moderation favored either side.6

The cited 2024 UN Special Rapporteur report documents serious platform-wide concerns about suppression of Palestinian expression, but its cited discussion identifies other platforms and does not provide a Reddit-specific finding; it is therefore not evidence that Reddit engaged in such suppression.7

No independent regulatory, NGO, academic, or judicial finding was identified in the reviewed material that Reddit systematically suppressed Palestinian-rights advocacy.6, 7

No public evidence identified of Israel–Palestine-specific employee discipline, workplace litigation, union disputes, shareholder-resolution suppression, retail practices, product labelling, sourcing policies, or settlement-origin categorization by Reddit.11, 12, 13, 14

Brand Heritage & State Partnerships

Reddit’s conflict statement describes cooperation with Tech Against Terrorism’s URL-alerting system for identifying terrorist content, without identifying it as an Israeli-state partnership or military relationship.1

No public evidence identified of Reddit presenting a military heritage, defence-sector origin, formal Israeli state partnership, state honor, government-hosted event, “Brand Israel” sponsorship, or Israeli-state/IDF contract.1, 2, 8

Historical secondary-source reports that Advance participated in financing rounds for Israel-founded Taboola in 2015 and for Gigya, then a commercial technology company with a Tel Aviv office, in 2012 remain unresolved commercial-investment leads rather than verified political findings.15, 16 Neither report establishes a state partnership, defence or surveillance investment, settlement nexus, political advocacy, current ownership, or a continuing relationship, and no primary Advance or company record was retrieved in the completed research.15, 16

Lobbying, Advocacy, Financing & Logistics

Reddit stated that it maintained dedicated channels for reports from government officials and law-enforcement agencies, but its October 2023 statement did not identify governments, requests, outcomes, or an Israel-specific channel.1

The reviewed SEC records identify Advance Magazine Publishers as controlled by Advance Publications for reported beneficial ownership and identify Advance-linked governance rights, but do not identify a publicly filed Israel/Palestine political programme, donation, or charitable vehicle tied to Advance, Steven O. Newhouse, or Reddit.17, 18, 19

Targeted searches of US Senate Lobbying Disclosure Act, FEC, OpenSecrets-indexed, and US Justice Department/FARA-indexed public records did not yield a qualifying record of Reddit, Advance Publications, Advance Magazine Publishers, Steven O. Newhouse, or another reviewed Advance-linked controlling principal lobbying on Israel/Palestine, anti-BDS legislation, settlements, military welfare, or an Israel-linked state institution.20, 17, 18, 19

The FEC’s 2022 closure of Matter Under Review 7811 concerned an allegation that Reddit made prohibited in-kind corporate contributions through content moderation; it was not an Israel/Palestine lobbying, contribution, anti-BDS, settlement, or military-welfare record, and the Commission found no reason to believe Reddit violated the cited corporate-contribution prohibition.21

No public evidence identified in this focused public-record review of an attributable Reddit or Advance-linked corporate PAC, Israel/Palestine lobbying disclosure, anti-BDS lobbying, contribution to FIDF, JNF/KKL, settlement or military-welfare bodies, formal partnership with an Israeli state institution, or conflict-period provision of logistics, free services, credits, or infrastructure to the Israeli state, IDF, settlements, or state-aligned NGOs.1, 20, 17, 22, 18, 19

Corporate Structure & Primary Mission

Reddit, Inc. is a Delaware corporation incorporated in May 2011, with Class A common stock trading on the NYSE under “RDDT” since its March 2024 IPO and principal executive offices in San Francisco.17

The company’s 2024 annual report identifies Reddit UK Limited as a subsidiary and does not describe a state-held share, state-directed mandate, or primary mission of advancing Israeli or other state geopolitical objectives.22

As of 31 December 2025, Advance Magazine Publishers Inc. held approximately 22% of Reddit’s outstanding Class A and Class B shares and more than 10% of voting power, while Reddit identified Advance as a related party.17

Advance Magazine Publishers is controlled by Advance Publications, Inc. according to the cited joint SEC ownership filing.18

The 19 March 2024 governance arrangements provide Advance with specified board and committee designation rights and affirmative-consent rights for certain corporate actions while the agreement remains in effect.17, 19

The Voting Agreement grants CEO and co-founder Steven Huffman a proxy over Advance-held voting shares for specified matters.19

Reddit’s 2026 proxy reported Huffman with 76.1% total voting power, including 70.0% through shares subject to a voting proxy, while Advance was disclosed with 65.2% and Tencent-affiliated entities with 6.1%.20

Executive & Leadership Footprint

As of Reddit’s 2026 proxy and June 2026 annual-meeting filing, Steven Huffman was CEO, President, co-founder, and director, and the elected board included David Habiger, Robert A. Sauerberg Jr., Steven O. Newhouse, Sarah Farrell, Patricia Fili-Krushel, Porter Gale, and Michael Seibel.20, 23

The 2026 proxy identifies Jennifer Wong, Andrew Vollero, Christopher Slowe, and Benjamin Lee alongside Huffman as named executive officers.20

Alexis Ohanian was included in the review as a Reddit co-founder, but is not listed among the current directors or named executive officers in the cited 2026 proxy and annual-meeting materials.20, 23

Steven O. Newhouse is identified as a Reddit director and co-president of Advance Publications, and he signed the March 2024 Voting Agreement for Advance Magazine Publishers in that capacity.24, 19

FEC filings record Alexis Ohanian contributions to Friends of Andrew Yang in 2019, Katie Porter Victory Fund in 2020, and Ro for Congress Inc. in 2013.25, 26, 27 Those filings establish selected public US federal political contributions, not Israel/Palestine-related giving, and do not establish contributions to an Israel/Palestine advocacy group, FIDF, JNF/KKL, settlement entity, military-welfare body, or anti-BDS activity.25, 26, 27

A targeted person-by-person review covered Huffman, Ohanian, Newhouse/Advance, Wong, Vollero, Slowe, Lee, Habiger, Sauerberg, Farrell, Fili-Krushel, Gale, and Seibel.20, 23, 17, 19, 24 Other than Ohanian’s non-Israel-specific FEC records, no public evidence identified in the completed searches of a documented personal donation, foundation grant, Israel-linked defence or cyber investment, board or advisory role, anti-BDS lobbying, or public Israel–Palestine advocacy by those individuals.20, 23, 17, 19, 24, 25, 26, 27

This searched-absence result does not disconfirm undisclosed activity and is particularly limited for private family-office vehicles, donor-advised funds, non-US gifts, and grants below public-reporting thresholds.20, 17, 24

Alexis Ohanian’s 776 Foundation, EIN 87-4537467, identifies him as director, president, secretary, and treasurer.28 Its fiscal-year 2024 Part XIV lists $1,782,585 of grants paid, mainly individual travel or study grants, plus $10,000 to LIDE Haiti and $10,000 to Social and Environmental Entrepreneurs for birth FUND.29 Its fiscal-year 2023 Part XIV lists $1,912,500, with the displayed recipients classified as individuals and purposes described as travel, study, or similar purposes.30

No Israel, Palestine, military-welfare, settlement, or anti-BDS purpose is identified on the face of those two 776 Foundation schedules.29, 30 This finding concerns disclosed grant descriptions and named institutional recipients, not individual recipients’ private affiliations, other years, undisclosed giving, or all potential Ohanian-linked vehicles.29, 30

Reddit’s 2026 proxy identifies the relevant Huffman board-role entity as GameChanger Charity, a 501(c)(3) described as leveraging technology and innovation to improve the lives of hospitalized children, and states that Huffman has served on its board since December 2020.20 The matching public charity is GameChanger Charity, EIN 26-3438815, in Dana Point, California; its indexed filings distinguish it from similarly named organizations.31, 32

The two newest publicly indexed GameChanger Charity returns are fiscal years 2025, filed 27 April 2026, and 2024, filed 10 November 2025.31 The FY2025 Form 990 reports $1,155,624 in grants and similar amounts paid.32 Its Schedule I lists domestic organizational “program support” grants to Family House ($15,000), Global Down Syndrome Foundation ($10,363), Intermountain Primary Children’s ($25,000), Kapiolani Medical Center ($25,000), Magdi Yacoub Global Heart ($25,000), Montefiore Einstein Medical ($50,000), and Stokehouse ($10,000).32 The return describes domestic individual assistance as games, headsets, gear, clothing, and “Gamepasses.”32

The accessible FY2025 return text contains no match for “Steven Huffman” or “Israel.”32 That omission does not contradict the proxy’s director disclosure, establish that Huffman ceased to be a director, or establish that recipients, donors, affiliates, or individual recipients lacked undisclosed Israel/Palestine connections.20, 32

FY2024 reports $1,067,256 in grants and similar amounts paid in the public index, but the linked public PDF and schedule request returned a 403 response in the completed review.31, 33 The FY2024 recipient schedule and stated grant purposes are therefore unavailable for this review, and no recipient-level absence conclusion is made.31, 33

No public record reviewed establishes that GameChanger Charity is controlled by Reddit, that Huffman controls it, or that its activities are corporate acts of Reddit.20, 31, 32 The evidence establishes Huffman’s disclosed board role only.20

Supplemental direct review of GameChanger schedules

The earlier FY2024 access limitation is superseded by direct retrieval of the embedded IRS Schedule I. Its Part II lists zero organizational recipients; Part III records games, headsets, gear and clothing assistance to 11,265 recipients valued at $890,500, Gamepasses to 1,023 recipients valued at $173,000, and $3,756 of various assistance to four individuals.34 The FY2025 embedded Schedule I independently confirms the seven named organizational program-support recipients described above and lists games, headsets, gear and clothing assistance to 4,750 recipients valued at $147,500 and Gamepasses to 4,000 recipients valued at $606,500.35

Neither schedule identifies an Israel/Palestine, military-welfare, settlement or anti-BDS purpose on its face. This describes the disclosed purposes only and does not establish private affiliations of recipients, donors or other connected persons.34, 35

For distinction from recipient grants, 776 Foundation’s earlier fiscal-year 2024 and 2023 filing reviews recorded total charitable disbursements of $2,240,213 and $2,226,492 respectively; those totals include broader charitable expenses and are not the Part XIV grant totals stated above.28, 29, 30

Preserved subsequent moderation finding

In March 2025 Reddit reported investigating allegations concerning 20 communities, including r/Palestine, finding four items of terrorist propaganda and no moderator-posted examples, and banning links to Resistance News Network. Reddit also reported no discernible bias in the separate allegation of systematic removal of pro-Israel or anti-Palestine content in large communities not focused on the Middle East. These are company-reported findings; that investigation did not independently resolve allegations of suppression of pro-Palestinian advocacy.36
