Corporate Communications & Public Stance

Statements. No corporate statement, press release, or official social-media post from Breitling SA addressing the Israel-Palestine conflict, the events of 7 October 2023, or the subsequent Gaza war was located; the only geopolitical or trade topics on which the company or its Group CEO, Georges Kern, are publicly on record in the sources reviewed are the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine and 2025 United States tariff policy1, 2. Comparative Silence. On Ukraine, Breitling confirmed to industry press that it halted watch deliveries to Russia on 28 February 2022 and that Georges Kern personally joined a roughly 25,000-strong anti-war demonstration in Zurich, posting a captioned video stating he had taken part “for freedom, peace and democracy in Ukraine”1; on US tariff policy, Kern was quoted on 28 October 2025 saying a 39% tariff on Swiss goods was “horrible,” and separately criticized Swiss politicians as ill-prepared to negotiate with the Trump administration2; no equivalent public statement, protest participation, or trade-press quotation from Kern or Breitling SA regarding the Israel-Palestine conflict was found in this research, establishing a documented asymmetry in public posture between the two conflicts1, 2. Market Framing. Breitling’s own partnerships page lists its sponsorships and brand partners by category (sport: NFL team editions, Six Nations rugby, Ironman; aviation: SWISS International Air Lines; automotive: Aston Martin, Triumph) with no Israel-specific or Middle East state partnership named among them3; the company’s only Israel-facing public-facing asset identified is a single retail boutique in Tel Aviv presented in standard commercial terms on Breitling’s international boutique-locator page, with no language distinguishing the market as a unique geopolitical partnership4.

Comparative Silence - Kern’s Middle East and Gaza-Ceasefire Remarks (new). No public evidence identified, from a source this audit can cite, of Georges Kern or Breitling describing Middle East sales performance or consumer sentiment in connection with the Gaza ceasefire. A CNBC article dated 28 October 2025 reporting such a paraphrased remark by Kern was read directly in this research but falls on this audit’s list of hosts excluded from citation, and this research found no other citable outlet reproducing that passage, nor an openable archived copy of the CNBC page itself, so the claim is not recorded here beyond noting that the search was performed. A same-day article (28 October 2025) independently corroborates Kern’s co-occurring, directly quoted remark that the 39% US tariff was “horrible” for Switzerland, which is the statement already recorded in the audit’s existing Comparative Silence finding, but that corroborating article contains no mention of the Middle East, “booming” sales, or a Gaza ceasefire2.

Operations in Occupied or Contested Territories

Territorial Presence. Breitling operates a company boutique at 18 Tel Aviv Street, Tel Aviv, Israel, listed on the brand’s own international store locator4; a 2011 Hebrew-language industry report identifies the Padani (Pdani) jewelry and watch retail chain as Breitling’s exclusive importer in Israel for over twenty years at that time, a relationship evidenced by Padani’s organization of a Breitling Jet Team aerobatic display over Tel Aviv on 19 October 2011 to mark Padani’s own 60th anniversary5, and a March 2024 Jerusalem travel-guide article independently describes Padani as the exclusive Israeli agent for Breitling among other luxury brands6; no evidence was found, in this research, of any Breitling-branded retail presence, dealership, or distribution point located within the West Bank, East Jerusalem, the Golan Heights, or any other Israeli settlement7. Legal & Regulatory Scrutiny. A direct search of the Who Profits database for “Breitling” returned no matching entry, with the database’s own company list instead showing unrelated firms (e.g., Booking.com, IBM, Caterpillar, Shikun & Binui)7; the United Nations Human Rights Council’s February 2020 database of businesses operating in Israeli settlements, as reported by the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre, covered 112 companies across the construction, food, banking, retail, and transport sectors and named no watch, jewelry, or luxury-goods company, and no source located in this research places Breitling in that database or its subsequent 2023 or 2025 revisions8; Al-Haq’s July 2024 booklet “Business and Human Rights in Palestine,” reviewed in full, discusses corporate complicity through named companies in construction, quarrying, agriculture, energy, and cosmetics (including Elbit Systems, Ahava, Sodastream, and several Israeli quarrying and industrial-settlement firms) and contains no reference to Breitling, watches, or jewelry9; a search of investigate.afsc.org and of the OHCHR settlement-database page for “Breitling” returned no accessible content connecting the company to either resource7. Civil Society & Boycott Campaign History. No public evidence identified of an organized boycott, divestment, or sanctions campaign naming Breitling specifically, whether under the BDS Movement’s named-company lists or in general news coverage of consumer boycotts tied to the Israel-Palestine conflict7; NGO Monitor, a pro-Israel watchdog group treated in this audit as a counter-source, has separately published a critique characterizing Al-Haq and GLAN’s business-and-human-rights reporting methodology as advancing a BDS agenda, a framing dispute relevant to how civil-society findings on occupation-linked companies are contested but which does not itself name Breitling10.

Internal Governance, Content & Retail Policies

Employee Relations. No public evidence identified of any report, controversy, or legal action concerning Breitling’s handling of employee speech, political symbols, or union activity connected to the Israel-Palestine conflict; the only identified Breitling employment litigation is an unrelated 2015 US discrimination lawsuit alleging anti-gay bias, which has no connection to this conflict7. Platform & Editorial Policy. Breitling does not operate a social-media platform, app store, or content-moderation system of the kind examined for this category, and no public evidence identified of any independent report, academic study, or regulatory inquiry regarding algorithmic moderation or editorial stance by Breitling related to the conflict7. Retail & Supply Chain Practices. Breitling’s supplier program is governed by a Supplier Code of Conduct and an annual EcoVadis sustainability benchmarking exercise covering labour and human-rights risk, ethics, environment, and sustainable procurement, a programme Breitling’s private-equity owner CVC also profiles as an ESG case study describing the Supplier Code of Conduct and the EcoVadis assessment process without disclosing a specific supplier-level score11, with just over 70% of direct suppliers by spend for case, bracelet, and movement parts engaged on a baseline EcoVadis assessment as reported in Breitling’s UN Global Compact Communication on Progress12; that disclosure states no significant risk of child or forced labour was identified in Breitling’s own operations or assessed suppliers, and reports 40.52% of Breitling Switzerland employees covered by collective-bargaining agreements12; an independent ethical-fashion rating service scores Breitling “Not Good Enough” overall and 2 out of 5 on its labour/people category, citing the absence of evidence that Breitling guarantees suppliers a living wage or provides suppliers with financial security, while crediting final production in Switzerland as a lower labour-risk jurisdiction13; no public evidence identified of any regulatory action or public report specifically addressing the labelling, sourcing, or territorial categorization of Breitling products originating from Israel, the West Bank, or Israeli settlements7.

Brand Heritage & State Partnerships

Marketing Positioning. Breitling markets a long-standing aviation and military heritage, tracing onboard chronograph supply to Royal Air Force aircraft from the 1930s and, since 1985, producing the Aerospace chronograph line for fast-jet pilots, with its own partnerships page confirming an ongoing brand relationship with SWISS International Air Lines and Aston Martin rather than any defense contractor3; the Breitling Jet Team, described on its own historical record as the largest civilian aerobatic display team in Europe, was sponsored by Breitling from 2003 until the company ended its sponsorship after the 2019 season, and the team was explicitly civilian rather than a state or military unit14. Institutional Ties & Sponsorships. Breitling has for over three decades sponsored the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team (the Red Arrows), a UK state military unit, with limited-edition Red Arrows watch releases directing a share of proceeds to the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund, a UK military-welfare charity; this is a UK state-military marketing and fundraising relationship, and no public evidence identified of an equivalent relationship, sponsorship, hosted-official event, or donation directed by Breitling toward any Israeli state, military, or state-security institution7. The 2011 Breitling Jet Team display over Tel Aviv was organized and funded by Breitling’s Israeli importer Padani to mark Padani’s 60th anniversary, and no public evidence identified either that this display was coordinated with Israel’s Ministry of Defense or the Israeli Air Force, or that it was not5.

Lobbying, Advocacy, Financing & Logistics

Political Lobbying. Breitling SA registered as a US federal lobbying client in September 2025, retaining Ballard Partners LLC exclusively for “guidance and advocacy related to trade and tariffs,” with reported spending of approximately $90,000 in the third quarter of 2025 and $140,000 in the fourth quarter, for roughly $230,000 over the engagement’s first six months; the disclosed lobbying issue is limited to trade and tariff policy and does not reference Israel, Palestine, boycotts, or related trade legislation15. No public evidence identified of a Breitling corporate PAC, FEC-registered political committee, or OpenSecrets-tracked donation record; no public evidence identified of Breitling leadership holding a role in any geopolitical pressure group or advocacy organization concerning the Israel-Palestine conflict specifically (CFI, AIPAC, or similar)7. Financial Contributions. No public evidence identified of any Breitling corporate donation, sponsorship, or financial contribution directed toward the Friends of the IDF, JNF/KKL, Lev Echad, Israeli reservist funds, settlement organizations, Regavim, Im Tirtzu, or any other military-welfare or settlement-linked body; the charitable watch-auction donations that were identified for Breitling in this research (Fisher House Foundation, Premiers de Cordée, Only Watch, TimeForArt, and the UK Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund) are unrelated to the Israel-Palestine conflict7. Crisis Asset Mobilization. No public evidence identified of Breitling directing corporate resources, logistics, free services, or infrastructure to any state, military, or state-aligned NGO effort during the Israel-Palestine conflict or any other active-conflict period other than its documented, Russia-directed response to the 2022 invasion of Ukraine (halted deliveries, described above)1, 7.

Verein Kompass: Gantner Co-Founding, Kern’s 2024 Membership, and Initiative Financing (new). Republik’s 5 December 2025 report states that Alfred Gantner co-founded Verein Kompass in October 2020 together with his two Partners Group co-founders, an association whose statutes describe its aim as “eine offene, freie, souveräne, sichere und wirtschaftlich prosperierende Schweiz” but whose practical focus, per Republik, is opposing closer Swiss-EU integration16. The association’s Kompass-Initiative - officially titled “Für eine direktdemokratische und wettbewerbsfähige Schweiz – keine EU-Passivmitgliedschaft,” which would subject treaties such as the Switzerland-EU Bilaterals III package to a mandatory double-majority referendum of the people and the cantons - was submitted to the Federal Chancellery on 29 August 2025 with 111,422 valid signatures, a figure independently confirmed by the Federal Office of Justice’s own case page16, 17. Republik further reports that Kompass managing director Philip Erzinger told the outlet the signature-collection drive cost roughly CHF 1.5 million, or nearly CHF 14 per signature16. Republik also reports that Georges Kern, after leaving the GLP in spring 2024 (saying he “kaum etwas bewegen konnte” within the party), joined Gantner’s Kompass by autumn 2024, and quotes Kern, when asked whether Gantner’s Breitling investment had shaped his own changed stance on EU policy, as saying: “Ich habe meine Meinung geändert. Darum bin ich Kompass beigetreten”16. Kompass is a Swiss domestic EU-policy advocacy association, not an Israel-Palestine-linked pressure group, so this does not contradict the audit’s conflict-scoped statement that no Breitling-leadership role in an Israel-Palestine political or geopolitical pressure group was identified; it does newly document an advocacy-organization founding role for Gantner and a membership role for Kern that the audit’s broader, unqualified language (“no public evidence identified of Breitling leadership holding a role in any geopolitical pressure group or advocacy organization”) did not previously capture, since that finding was researched and framed specifically around Israel-Palestine-linked advocacy bodies (CFI, AIPAC, or similar) rather than Swiss domestic EU-policy groups16.

Corporate Structure & Primary Mission

Foundational Mandate. Breitling SA was founded in 1884 in Saint-Imier, Switzerland, by Léon Breitling as a maker of chronographs and timing instruments for scientific, industrial, and later aviation use, and is today a privately held Swiss corporation with no golden share, state ownership, or publicly disclosed charter language tying its mission to any state’s geopolitical or security objectives18; its ownership is split among private-equity sponsors and management. Partners Group, acting on behalf of its clients, agreed on 23 December 2022 to increase its equity stake in Breitling to become the company’s largest shareholder, with Alfred Gantner, a Partners Group co-founder and executive board member, becoming Breitling’s board chairman in that transaction while Georges Kern continued as Group CEO19. CVC Capital Partners’ corresponding release confirms it originally acquired its stake in 2017 and, following the 2022 transaction, remains invested alongside Partners Group and management, with the three continuing to jointly control the company and Daniel Pindur, a CVC Managing Partner, chairing Breitling’s board at the time of that release20. Trade-press reporting of the 2022 transaction states Partners Group’s resulting stake at approximately 50.3% and CVC’s remaining stake at approximately 23.6%, alongside a reported target to list Breitling on the SIX Swiss Exchange in 202721; no SEC filing, 10-K, or 20-F was located for Breitling SA itself, consistent with its status as a privately held, non-US-listed company7.

Executive & Leadership Footprint

Personal Philanthropy & Financing. No public evidence identified of any personal donation, family-foundation grant, or fundraising effort by Georges Kern, Alfred Gantner, or Daniel Pindur directed toward Israeli, Palestinian, or regional advocacy groups, parastatal organizations, or military-welfare funds such as FIDF or JNF7. Public Advocacy & Statements. Georges Kern’s only identified public political statement in this research concerns the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, where he personally joined a Zurich street protest and publicly characterized US tariff policy in October 2025 as “horrible” for Switzerland; no statement by Kern on the Israel-Palestine conflict was identified1, 2. Board Memberships & Affiliations. Daniel Pindur, CVC Managing Partner and, per CVC’s own December 2022 release, Breitling’s board chairman at that time, is separately listed as a director of ironSource Ltd, a Tel Aviv-headquartered technology company, in that company’s SEC Form 20-F covering fiscal year 202122; a third-party business-profile aggregator (not independently confirmed on CVC’s own website) describes Pindur as CVC’s regional co-head for “DACH and Israel,” a claim reported here with that sourcing caveat because it could not be corroborated on CVC’s own site23. No public evidence identified of Georges Kern, Alfred Gantner, or Daniel Pindur holding a board seat, advisory role, or leadership position in any organization focused on pro-Israel advocacy, anti-BDS lobbying, or settlement activity7.

Named-entity search record. Partners Group Holding AG - Breitling’s largest shareholder (approx. 50.3% following the December 2022 transaction) - searched for public statements on Israel/Gaza, settlement-linked investment, or named inclusion in OHCHR/Who Profits/Al-Haq material: searched, none found19, 21, 7. CVC Capital Partners - minority shareholder (approx. 23.6%) and Breitling’s majority owner from 2017 to 2022 - searched for Israeli defense or cyber-sector investment and for named inclusion in settlement-related databases: searched, none found, though CVC’s Managing Partner Daniel Pindur has an independent Israel-linked board role (below)20, 7. Alfred Gantner - Breitling board chairman since the December 2022 transaction, Partners Group co-founder - searched for Israel-linked philanthropy, donations, or board affiliations: searched, none found19. Georges Kern - Breitling Group CEO since 2017 - searched for statements, donations, or board roles concerning Israel/Palestine: searched, none found beyond the comparative-silence finding on Ukraine and tariffs already documented above18, 1, 2. Daniel Pindur - CVC Managing Partner and Breitling board chairman as of December 2022 (later reported as vice chairman) - searched for Israel-linked roles: a director seat at Tel Aviv-based ironSource Ltd is confirmed in that company’s SEC filing, and a lower-confidence aggregator additionally attributes to him co-responsibility for CVC’s Israel region22, 23. Padani (Pdani) - Breitling’s named Israeli retail importer (confirmed as of 2011 and per a March 2024 secondary report) - searched for settlement-branch presence, reservist-support programs, or military-welfare donations: searched, none found5, 6, 7.

Act record. Breitling SA operates a company-owned boutique at 18 Tel Aviv Street, Israel, via breitling.com’s own store locator; status as of this research is continuing, with no end date identified4. Padani, an independent Israeli retailer, organized and funded a Breitling Jet Team aerobatic display over Tel Aviv on 19 October 2011 to mark Padani’s 60th anniversary; this was a one-time dated event with no evidence of repetition, and the Breitling Jet Team itself (a Breitling-sponsored but civilian-operated unit) ceased all public displays after the 2019 season when Breitling ended its sponsorship, which is the most recent confirmed cessation evidence for that specific brand asset5, 14. Breitling SA halted watch deliveries to Russia on 28 February 2022 in response to the invasion of Ukraine, a channel-level corporate act reported via industry trade press (not Breitling’s own site); status is presumed continuing given no subsequent resumption was identified, though this was not independently re-confirmed as of the 2026 research date1. Breitling SA registered Ballard Partners LLC as a federal lobbyist in September 2025 for trade and tariff advocacy, a continuing relationship as of the most recent (Q4 2025) disclosure found in secondary reporting15. Breitling SA has sponsored the UK Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team (Red Arrows) for over three decades, a continuing relationship evidenced by current retail listings for Red Arrows-branded limited editions, with a portion of proceeds channelled to the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund; this is a UK, not Israel-linked, military-charity act and is noted here only for completeness of the military-donation inventory7.

Personal Political Financing (new). Republik, in a 5 December 2025 investigation citing Switzerland’s federal political-finance transparency register, reports that Georges Kern contributed CHF 40,000 to GLP politician Tiana Moser’s Ständerat election campaign while Kern sat on the Zurich cantonal GLP board; Republik’s own text gives no exact payment date and does not specify an election year, though context in the same report (Kern’s GLP board tenure predating his spring-2024 exit) places it at or before the 2023 Zurich Ständerat race in which Moser was elected16. A direct attempt in this research to query the register itself, politikfinanzierung.efk.admin.ch, returned only a bare JavaScript application shell with no accessible donor-level search or record, so this CHF 40,000 figure rests on Republik’s own reading of the database rather than an independent re-verification of the underlying entry in this research24. This is a domestic Swiss party-political donation unconnected to the Israel-Palestine conflict, so it does not contradict the audit’s conflict-scoped finding that no personal donation by Kern “directed toward Israeli, Palestinian, or regional advocacy groups, parastatal organizations, or military-welfare funds” was identified; it does, however, newly document a personal political-financing act by Kern that the audit’s broader framing (“no public evidence identified of any personal donation… by Georges Kern”) did not previously capture16.

Chairman’s Role in Trump Tariff Diplomacy and Gifts (new). SRF reports that Alfred Gantner was one of six Swiss businesspeople in a “Team Switzerland” delegation that met US President Trump in the Oval Office in early November 2025 (one SRF article’s image caption dates the meeting to 4 November 2025), where the delegation presented Trump with a gold bar and a watch described by SRF as a “Rolex-Uhr”; Gantner told SRF’s Arena programme the gifts were intended for the “amerikanische Öffentlichkeit”/presidential library rather than for Trump personally, and stated on-air that “das Seco wusste, dass wir gehen, und sie wussten auch, mit welchen Geschenken wir gehen,” i.e., that the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (Seco) knew about the gifts in advance25, 26. Gantner separately claimed a 10%-tariff deal could have been reached as early as May 2025 had administrative objections and EU-related caution not delayed it, a claim that federal councillors Ignazio Cassis and Beat Jans, and Seco director Helene Budliger, publicly disputed; blue News reports that the parliamentary Geschäftsprüfungskommission (GPK) widened its inquiry (extended to mid-November 2025) and that committee members sought to summon Gantner to testify over his and the delegation’s role and over who had access to sensitive negotiating information27. The Greens and the Juso filed a criminal complaint alleging bribery of a foreign official over the gifts, per SRF25. None of this reporting references Israel, Palestine, or the Gaza war; it documents Gantner’s personal diplomatic and gift-giving role in US tariff negotiations and the resulting parliamentary scrutiny, supplementing the audit’s existing “Board Memberships & Affiliations” and “Political Lobbying” findings on Breitling’s chairman, which recorded only Breitling SA’s institutional Ballard Partners trade-lobbying registration and no personal advocacy-group role for Gantner; this new material concerns personal diplomatic conduct rather than a role in a geopolitical pressure group on the Israel-Palestine conflict specifically, so it does not alter that conflict-scoped finding25, 26, 27.

Board Memberships & Affiliations - Pindur’s Breitling Board Seat Ended (new). A Swiss commercial register record for Breitling AG (Grenchen, Solothurn; register no. CHE-102.177.526), reproduced by the Swiss company-data aggregator fundraiso.com, shows a register publication dated 10 October 2025 under the heading “Representative changed” listing Daniel Pindur among “Ausgeschiedene Personen und erloschene Unterschriften” (departed persons and lapsed signatures), indicating his signing authority and board seat at Breitling AG ended on or before that date28. The same page’s current-board listing contains no Pindur entry, showing instead Alfred Gantner as President (continuously since 12 July 2023, re-registered 7 May 2026), Can Toygar promoted from member to Vice-President on 6 October 2025, and six other members (Gordon Bowen and Andreas Holzmüller from 12 July 2023, Yichen Shen from 26 July 2023, Valérie Carine Laurence Bessolo Llopiz and Omorinsola Yewande Oluwole from 14 May 2024, and Justus Benedikt Stomper from 6 October 2025)28. This corrects the audit’s existing “Board Memberships & Affiliations” finding, which described Pindur only as Breitling’s board chairman per CVC’s December 2022 release and parenthetically noted elsewhere that he was “later reported as vice chairman” on a low-confidence aggregator basis; the commercial-register evidence located in this research instead indicates that, whatever title his board role held after the December 2022 handover to Gantner, it had ended by October 2025, with no Pindur directorship of any title appearing in the current register-derived board list28. A MarketScreener profile for Pindur, fetched directly in this research, still lists Breitling SA among his positions with the title “Direktor/Vorstandsmitglied” (director/board member) and no end date, but independent search snippets of other national MarketScreener mirrors for the same legal entity show board compositions matching Gantner-as-president and Toygar-as-vice-president consistent with the register data, so the still-listing-Pindur MarketScreener page appears to reflect stale or uncorrected aggregator data rather than a confirmed current seat, and is superseded here by the commercial-register record29, 28.

CVC Title - Independent Corroboration of “DACH and Israel” (new). Equilar’s ExecAtlas executive-biography database, fetched directly in this research, states that Daniel Pindur is “Managing Partner and Co-Head of DACH and Israel at CVC,” independently corroborating - from a source distinct from the humantic.ai aggregator the audit already cites with a sourcing caveat - that Pindur’s current CVC title, as reported by third parties, covers a combined “DACH and Israel” region rather than “DACH” alone30. This strengthens, without fully resolving, the audit’s existing caveated claim (sourced only to humantic.ai) that Pindur is CVC’s “regional co-head for ‘DACH and Israel’”; no page on CVC’s own cvc.com domain naming Pindur’s title or region was located in this research (repeated site-restricted searches returned no cvc.com result naming him), so the claim still rests on third-party aggregators rather than CVC’s own site, but it is no longer a single-source claim30. Separately, WithSecure’s own current “Our Leadership” board page, fetched directly, lists Pindur only as “Member of the Board” of WithSecure with no mention of his CVC title, region, or his Breitling status, confirming he remains an active, named office-holder as of this research date but adding no further detail on the DACH/Israel question or on his Breitling board status31.
