Fairphone B.V.’s 2023 annual report states that a consortium led by Invest-NL and the ABN AMRO Sustainable Impact Fund, with existing shareholder Quadia, agreed on 27 January 2023 to invest €49 million.¹⁵ The report states that €17 million was growth capital for Fairphone and the remainder was used to purchase shares from exiting shareholders.¹⁵

Operational Presence & Market Activity

Fairphone’s legal notice identifies FairPhone B.V. at Van Diemenstraat 200, 1013 CP Amsterdam, Netherlands, with Netherlands Chamber of Commerce registration 55901964 and Dutch VAT number NL851904270B01.²⁸ Fairphone’s contact page provides the same Amsterdam address, legal form, Chamber of Commerce number, and VAT number.²⁹ Fairphone’s current “About us” page describes the company as “from The Netherlands,” which is corporate self-description rather than evidence of beneficial ownership or tax residence beyond the documented Dutch registration.³⁰ A Netherlands WEEE-register list dated April 2024 names FairPhone B.V., registration 55901964, as a producer registered through Stichting OPEN.³¹

Fairphone’s 2024 annual report describes Fairphone B.V. as a standalone entity and records 124 employees in Amsterdam at year-end 2024, representing 122.04 FTE, compared with 132 employees at year-end 2023.⁶ The report states that 15 employees were employed outside the Netherlands, in China, France, Germany, India, Italy, and Taiwan; Israel is not included in that identified list.⁶ Fairphone’s public team page refers to a Taiwan office but does not identify a separate legal entity, subsidiary, or branch registration for that location.²³

A current United States Fairphone website identifies FairPhone, Inc., with a registered address in Wilmington, Delaware and a mailing address in Chicago, Illinois, and states that neither address is a repair centre.⁴⁵ Current United States recycling-program terms, valid from 18 August 2026, and warranty terms identify FairPhone, Inc. as a Delaware corporation and use a Chicago c/o address.^{46, 47} The reviewed legal documents do not state FairPhone, Inc.’s shareholder, parent, ownership percentage, or contractual relationship to Fairphone B.V.; it therefore remains unverified whether it is a subsidiary, affiliate, sister company, or another contractual entity.^{6, 45, 46, 47}

Fairphone B.V. is recorded by its annual report as incorporated on 2 July 2015 and registered at Van Diemenstraat 200 since 1 March 2022.⁶ The Bloomberg LEI record identifies Fairphone B.V. as active under Dutch jurisdiction, gives the same Amsterdam legal and headquarters address and Chamber of Commerce identifier, and was last updated on 21 November 2025.⁷
