Political Audit: Hublot SA

Audit Phase: Political Subject Entity: Hublot SA (Nyon, Switzerland) - wholly owned subsidiary of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (Euronext Paris: MC) Audit Date: June 2026 Evidence Base: Published corporate disclosures, primary biographical and historical records, NGO and BDS-movement materials, trade and national press, and investor/transaction reporting. This audit is a forensic evidence inventory only. No scoring, weighting, or interpretive conclusion is drawn here.

Corporate Communications & Public Stance

Official Position on the Israel-Palestine Conflict

No public evidence was identified of any named, dated corporate statement by Hublot SA addressing the 7 October 2023 Hamas attack, the subsequent Israeli military operations in Gaza, or the Israel-Palestine conflict as a geopolitical matter. Hublot’s external communications are product- and partnership-focused (watch launches, ambassador activations, sport sponsorships).1

At the parent-group level, trade press reporting in October 2023 recorded that, as of 12 October 2023, major beauty and luxury players “including L’Oréal, Procter & Gamble, Unilever, The Estée Lauder Cos., Kering and LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton have failed to make any statements” on the Hamas attacks or the situation in Gaza, in contrast to brands such as Chanel (whose chairman pledged USD 4 million in humanitarian aid) and designers including Stella McCartney and Victoria Beckham who issued statements.2

Comparative Responsiveness (Ukraine Benchmark)

LVMH issued a named, dated public response to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. On 4 March 2022 the group announced the temporary closure of its boutiques in Russia “given the current circumstances in the region,” stated its roughly 3,500 Russian employees would continue to receive salary and benefits, and on 7 March 2022 confirmed suspension of e-commerce and business operations in Russia.34 LVMH also stated it stood “alongside all those severely affected by this war” and addressed support for its employees in Ukraine.4 No comparable named statement, boutique suspension, or operational measure relating to the Israel-Palestine conflict has been identified for either Hublot or LVMH.23

Parent-Level Controversy

In 2023–2024, LVMH brand Louis Vuitton became the subject of a public “watermelon” T-shirt row, in which a striped LV product was variously read by social-media audiences as a pro-Palestinian symbol; LVMH did not, in the reporting reviewed, issue a stance on the conflict in connection with the item.5 No public evidence was identified of any Hublot-specific statement in this episode.

Operations in Occupied or Contested Territories

Retail Presence in Israel

Hublot maintains a retail presence inside Israel. The Hublot corporate site lists a “Hublot Tel Aviv Boutique,” and Israeli press reporting (June 2025) places the Tel Aviv boutique in the TLV Mall and references an additional “Impress Lounge” point of sale at Kikar HaMedina, Tel Aviv.67 Hublot’s Israeli distribution is handled by the Roltime Group, described in its own corporate listing as one of the largest watch, jewellery and luggage distributors in Israel and a distributor of Hublot.8

The same June 2025 reporting documents a Hublot “Classic Fusion Chronograph Titanium” associated with ambassador Kylian Mbappé, of which two of 100 worldwide units were allocated to Israel, bearing serial numbers 13 and 18 - numbers described in the report as chosen for their significance in Jewish tradition.7

Settlements / Occupied Territory

No public evidence was identified placing a Hublot-branded boutique or authorized dealer within an internationally recognized Israeli settlement in the West Bank or occupied East Jerusalem. The documented Hublot retail points identified in the public record are located in Tel Aviv.67

UN Database and Civil-Society Listings

No public evidence was identified that Hublot SA or LVMH SE appears on the UN Human Rights Council database of business enterprises involved in activities in Israeli settlements (the OHCHR list mandated under HRC Resolution 31/36).9 No public evidence was identified that Hublot is profiled in the Who Profits Research Center corporate database of companies involved in the occupation economy.10

No public evidence was identified of regulatory actions, sanctions designations, or legal proceedings against Hublot relating to operations in occupied or contested territories.

Internal Governance, Content & Retail Policies

Employee Relations & Internal Speech

No public evidence was identified of HR enforcement actions, disciplinary proceedings, or labour disputes at Hublot relating to employee speech, political symbols, or activity connected to the Israel-Palestine conflict.

Platform & Editorial Policy

No public evidence was identified. (Hublot is a watch manufacturer and retailer, not a content platform; no algorithmic-moderation or content-suppression record relating to Israel-Palestine was identified.)

Retail Screening & Consumer-Facing Policy

No public evidence was identified of Hublot implementing product boycotts, admission restrictions, or discriminatory or preferential retail-access policies directed at consumers on national or ethno-religious grounds.

Supply-Chain Origin Labelling

No public evidence was identified of regulatory enforcement or a documented public report against Hublot specifically concerning labelling or origin-marking of settlement-origin goods.

Brand Heritage & State Partnerships

Founding & Heritage

Hublot was founded in 1980 by Italian entrepreneur Carlo Crocco; the brand name derives from the French for “porthole.”11 Jean-Claude Biver joined as CEO in 2004, taking a minority shareholding (Crocco retaining the majority), and launched the Big Bang line in 2005.11 LVMH acquired Hublot in April 2008 from Crocco and the Biver-controlled vehicle, and Hublot now operates as a wholly owned LVMH subsidiary headquartered in Nyon, Switzerland.1112 No documented military, defense-sector, or state-security heritage was identified in Hublot’s founding or brand history.11

Institutional Partnerships

Hublot’s documented institutional partnerships are concentrated in sport, motorsport and entertainment, including a long-running role as a football timekeeping partner and ambassador relationships with athletes such as Kylian Mbappé (ambassador since 2018), Novak Djokovic and Patrick Mahomes.7 No public evidence was identified of Hublot entering formal, non-commercial partnerships with Israeli state institutions, government ministries, or state-owned enterprises, nor of participation in “Brand Israel” or Israeli public-diplomacy programmes, nor of acceptance of Israeli state honours or endorsements.

Lobbying, Advocacy, Financing & Logistics

Lobbying

No public evidence was identified of Hublot-specific lobbying registrations distinct from LVMH group-level activity in the EU Transparency Register, Swiss domestic disclosures, or the US FARA database. No public evidence was identified of LVMH lobbying disclosures relating specifically to Israel-Palestine policy, anti-BDS legislation, or Middle East trade measures favouring Israel.

Financing of Israeli Companies (Parent / Controlling-Shareholder Level)

Bernard Arnault - founder, chairman and controlling shareholder of LVMH - participated through his personal/family investment vehicle Aglaé Ventures in a USD 120 million 2021 funding transaction in the Israeli cloud-security company Wiz; Aglaé Ventures is supported by Agache, the entity through which Arnault controls LVMH.13 Wiz was founded by four veterans of the Israeli military intelligence Unit 8200 (Assaf Rappaport, Yinon Costica, Ami Luttwak and Roy Reznik).14 Wiz was subsequently acquired by Google.14

In June 2022, LVMH Luxury Ventures was a participant in a USD 90 million funding round for the Israeli lab-grown diamond company Lusix, which operates a solar-powered facility outside Tel Aviv; LVMH stablemate TAG Heuer used Lusix diamonds in a showpiece timepiece.15 No public evidence was identified that this LVMH Luxury Ventures investment involved Hublot specifically.

A viral social-media claim that the Arnault family donates “USD 120 million yearly to Israeli forces” was assessed as inaccurate by a published fact-check, which traced the figure to the one-time 2021 multi-investor Wiz venture round (shared among Arnault, Salesforce and Blackstone) rather than any annual donation to the Israeli military.16 No public evidence was identified of corporate donations by Hublot SA or LVMH SE to the Friends of the IDF (FIDF), the Jewish National Fund (JNF/KKL), or comparable parastatal or military-welfare bodies.

Crisis Asset Mobilisation

No public evidence was identified of Hublot directing corporate products, logistics, or infrastructure to assist Israeli state, military, or state-aligned efforts during the October 2023–present conflict.

Boycott / Campaign Status

Hublot appears on at least one third-party, crowd-sourced BDS-style boycott guide (The Witness “Israel Boycott Guide”), which cites LVMH/Arnault investments in Israeli companies as the rationale.17 As of the review date, neither Hublot nor LVMH appears among the named consumer-boycott, divestment, or pressure priority targets published by the Palestinian BDS National Committee on bdsmovement.net (whose listed consumer targets include, e.g., Chevron, Intel, HP, Siemens, Carrefour, AXA, Reebok and Disney+).18

Corporate Structure & Primary Mission

Ownership & Control

Hublot SA is a wholly owned subsidiary of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE, acquired in 2008.1112 LVMH is a publicly listed French conglomerate controlled by Bernard Arnault and the Arnault family through their holding structure (Agache/Aglaé).13 No state-held golden shares, sovereign-wealth controlling stakes, or government-linked entities were identified in Hublot’s or LVMH’s disclosed ownership structure in the sources reviewed.

Mission

Hublot’s stated identity is commercial and product-led - the “Art of Fusion” combination of traditional Swiss watchmaking with unconventional materials. No public evidence was identified that Hublot’s corporate charter or mission ties its activities to advancing any state’s geopolitical objectives.111

Structural Position Within LVMH

Hublot sits within LVMH’s watches activity, alongside TAG Heuer and Zenith. As of January 2024 LVMH created a dedicated “LVMH Watches” leadership structure (initially headed by Frédéric Arnault, who subsequently moved to Loro Piana).19 Hublot reported approximately 800 employees as of 2024; its revenues are not separately broken out at subsidiary level in LVMH’s public filings.11

Executive & Leadership Footprint

Julien Tornare - CEO of Hublot

Julien Tornare was appointed CEO of Hublot effective 1 September 2024, moving from the CEO role at TAG Heuer; the appointment was announced in July 2024 as part of an LVMH watches-division reshuffle.2021 No public evidence was identified of Tornare making personal statements, signing open letters, or making personal donations regarding the Israel-Palestine conflict, nor of any board seat or affiliation with an Israeli advocacy or pressure organization.

Ricardo Guadalupe - Honorary President (former CEO)

Ricardo Guadalupe served as CEO of Hublot from 2012 and was named Honorary President of Hublot effective 1 September 2024.2021 No public evidence was identified of Guadalupe making personal statements, donations, or affiliations regarding the Israel-Palestine conflict.

Jean-Claude Biver - Former CEO & Brand Architect

Jean-Claude Biver (Swiss-Luxembourgish) served as Hublot CEO from 2004 to 2012 and later as LVMH watch-division president, and is the principal architect of Hublot’s modern brand strategy.1112 No public statements, posts, signed letters, donations, or affiliations by Biver regarding the Israel-Palestine conflict, or with Israeli advocacy/pressure organizations, were identified in the sources reviewed.

Bernard Arnault - Controlling Shareholder, LVMH

Bernard Arnault, as LVMH’s controlling shareholder, participated via Aglaé Ventures in the 2021 Wiz funding transaction described above.13 No public evidence was identified of personal donations by Arnault to the Israeli military or to Israeli military-welfare organizations; the contrary viral claim was assessed as inaccurate by a published fact-check.16 No board seat or formal affiliation of Arnault with an Israeli geopolitical pressure organization was identified in the sources reviewed.
