Microsoft has controlled LinkedIn since its 2016 acquisition, and current reviewed SEC filings consolidate LinkedIn within the Microsoft group. The facts below concern Microsoft as parent; the original LinkedIn-only findings do not establish absence of group activity.1, 2

The reviewed Microsoft audit and its live-research receipts cover military procurement, physical goods, infrastructure and logistical services. Microsoft’s own May 2025 statement identifies the Israeli Ministry of Defense as a customer for software, professional services, Azure cloud, AI and cybersecurity support; these are digital services and do not by themselves establish a physical hardware or logistical result.3

Reporting describes off-the-shelf Xbox One controllers in Israel Aerospace Industries’ Carmel tank prototype. The reviewed evidence does not identify a Microsoft–IAI supply contract, a Microsoft-designed tactical product, or confirmed current operational deployment; the physical device use is therefore documented with those supply and status limits.4

Who Profits reports that in 2016 the Israeli military published a video showing Microsoft HoloLens augmented-reality smart glasses for battlefield strategy and training. LinkedIn Corporation is a Microsoft subsidiary, and Microsoft’s FY2025 reporting describes LinkedIn’s commercial offerings as Talent Solutions, Marketing Solutions, Premium Subscriptions, and Sales Solutions rather than defence products or military services 6, 7.

A December 2024 IMOD communication concerns Elbit contracts for drones and autonomous systems with intelligence, strike, and communications capabilities, but the reviewed UN report does not identify LinkedIn as a party to those contracts 8.

A 2024 civil-society report raises digital-rights and platform-moderation concerns relating to LinkedIn, but it does not describe software designed to generate targets, make targeting decisions, control fire, or produce weapons effects 12.

Export Licensing, Regulatory & Legal History

No public evidence identified of a government decision granting, refusing, suspending, or revoking a defence-export licence for LinkedIn products to Israeli military or security end-users.

Microsoft’s FY2025 subsidiary exhibit lists LinkedIn Corporation in the United States and LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company in Ireland as Microsoft subsidiaries, rather than identifying LinkedIn as a separately traded public issuer 7.

Civil Society Scrutiny & Documented Investigations

The supplied document-scoped review found no LinkedIn mention in the 2023 OHCHR settlement-business database update, which is not a claim of absence across the wider economy or all settlement-related activity 13.

Primary-filing clarification, 11 September 2026

Aphorism Foundation’s Form 990-PF for calendar year 2023 (EIN 46-4347021), Part XIV, section 3a, reports a grant paid during that year of $1,000,000 to American Friends of LIBI for “GENERAL SUPPORT.” The same filing lists Reid Hoffman as president/treasurer/director. This is a documented foundation grant; the filing does not identify a Microsoft or LinkedIn corporate payment, a particular grant-payment date, a restricted equipment purchase, or a recurring commitment.21

American Friends of LIBI describes its purpose as funding welfare, education, religious, social and recreational support for IDF soldiers outside the defence budget. It states that it channels support for IDF-requested projects and works with organisations representing combat units; the listed Brighton address matches the recipient address in Aphorism’s grant schedule. These sources identify a military-welfare channel, but do not trace Aphorism’s particular grant to weapons, equipment, a military unit, or a physical delivery.21, 22

Microsoft’s 2023 annual report lists Hoffman as a director; its 2023 proxy identifies him as LinkedIn co-founder and former chair and as a member of Microsoft’s Environmental, Social, and Public Policy committee. These document his parent-board and public-policy governance role in the grant year, in addition to his LinkedIn founder association; they do not establish personal ownership of the donated foundation funds or sole grant-making authority.23, 24

The recipient’s posted 2025 Form 990 client copy identifies educational, medical and social care of soldiers and lists recreational equipment and medical supplies among other programmes. This later organisation-wide description is not proof that the 2023 Aphorism grant bought those items, and the posted client copy alone does not prove IRS acceptance. No public evidence identified in the reviewed grant and recipient documents of a physical downstream delivery attributable to the specific grant; the verified general military-welfare financing is also recorded in the political audit.25, 21, 22
