Corporate Communications & Public Stance

Microsoft owns and consolidates LinkedIn; Microsoft-related findings below are parent-group evidence and do not establish a LinkedIn contract, political payment, or policy unless specifically stated.1, 2

No public evidence identified of a LinkedIn corporate statement specifically addressing Israel–Palestine in the reviewed official newsroom and executive-source material.3, 4

LinkedIn’s stated mission is to create economic opportunity for the global workforce, and its 2020 leadership announcement did not identify a state-geopolitical mandate.3

LinkedIn’s 2024 Digital Services Act update said it had published a 2023 systemic-risk assessment, a 2024 audit report, and an audit-implementation response, with the risk-assessment snapshot dated August 2023.5

Microsoft’s 15 May 2025 statement described a standard commercial relationship with Israel’s Ministry of Defense (IMOD), including software, professional services, Azure cloud services, and Azure AI services including translation.6 Microsoft also said it had provided limited, specially approved emergency support to the Israeli government after 7 October 2023 for hostage-rescue efforts, approving some requests and declining others; the statement did not identify resources, recipients, value, or LinkedIn involvement.6

On 25 September 2025, Brad Smith stated that Microsoft had ceased and disabled specified IMOD cloud-storage and AI subscriptions after its review found evidence supporting elements of mass-surveillance reporting, while retaining cybersecurity work for Israel and other Middle East countries; the review remained ongoing.7

Microsoft’s 10 October 2023 employee announcement said that it activated employee giving, was assessing support needs, and was connecting with local organisations to support first responders with digital technology and services.8 The announcement identified nearly 3,000 Microsoft employees in Israel as directly affected and referred to Palestinian employees’ concern for family safety, but did not identify a LinkedIn programme, recipient organisation, funding amount, or military recipient.8

The Israeli Ministry of Defense maintains an official LinkedIn company page that publishes material about IDF capacity and Israeli defence-industry activity, establishing use of LinkedIn’s public platform rather than a procurement, partnership, or special-access relationship with LinkedIn.9

UN Special Rapporteur report A/HRC/59/23 includes LinkedIn-hosted URLs in footnotes for Israeli Ministry of Defense and individual posts, but that citation use does not identify LinkedIn Corporation as a military supplier, contracting party, or participant in the conduct discussed by the report.10

No public evidence identified in the reviewed sources of a LinkedIn-specific boycott or divestment campaign, a named BDS corporate-priority designation, or a documented company response to such a campaign.3, 4

Operations in Occupied or Contested Territories

LinkedIn’s corporate information lists Tel Aviv among its international offices, while providing no legal-entity identity, address, headcount, government-customer description, or indication of activity in occupied territory.4

Israel’s Ministry of Finance reported in March 2022 that LinkedIn had acquired Tel Aviv marketing-attribution company Oribi and that Oribi team members were expected to join LinkedIn and work from a new Tel Aviv office.11

Microsoft’s FY2025 Form 10-K reports leased international property in Israel among its largest international leased properties, but does not attribute that property to LinkedIn or identify its location.12

LinkedIn’s terms route members and businesses outside its defined Designated Countries to LinkedIn Corporation in California, while EU, EEA, and Swiss users contract with LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company.13

LinkedIn’s paid-services contracting terms identify LinkedIn Singapore Pte. Ltd. for Asia-Pacific countries other than China, do not separately list Israel, and do not identify an Israel-incorporated LinkedIn contracting entity.14

Microsoft’s significant-subsidiary exhibit identifies LinkedIn Corporation and LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company, while expressly omitting subsidiaries that are not significant in the aggregate.15

LinkedIn is not listed in the 30 June 2023 OHCHR settlement-business database.16

No public evidence identified of LinkedIn-operated facilities, resellers, contracts, or other operations in the West Bank, East Jerusalem, the Golan Heights, or Israeli settlements.4, 11, 15, 16

No public evidence identified of a current public primary record establishing an Israeli-incorporated LinkedIn subsidiary, local branch registration, directors, or shareholding.11, 15

Internal Governance, Content & Retail Policies

LinkedIn’s 2023 EU terrorism-content report describes a three-layer moderation model comprising automated filtering at creation, automated detection followed by human review, and user reporting followed by human review.17

The report states that LinkedIn policies prohibit content promoting terrorist organisations or violent extremist groups.17 LinkedIn reported 83 removals from EU-based providers under its dangerous-organisations policy in 2023, zero EU removal orders, and 22 reinstatement complaints, of which 21 were rejected.17 The EU report does not provide conflict-specific, language-specific, or Palestine/Israel-specific moderation data.17

A 2025 7amleh report presents user accounts and unnamed internal-source allegations of asymmetric enforcement affecting Palestine-related expression, including accounts of self-censorship, content removal, and an account restriction lasting from December 2023 to May 2025.18 Those accounts are reported testimonies and allegations rather than independently adjudicated findings or an official LinkedIn admission.18

The same report alleges that an HR-approved “MSFTxLinkedIn” Palestinian culture-and-identity initiative and Palestine-related events were cancelled, but the reviewed material did not include LinkedIn’s response, the underlying complaint, or an independent adjudication.18 A separate 7amleh workplace report discusses testimony from workers across several technology companies, including Microsoft and LinkedIn, but the reviewed material does not establish a named LinkedIn HR action, lawsuit, or policy decision against an identified employee.19

Associated Press reported that Microsoft dismissed two employees after an unauthorised October 2024 lunchtime vigil for Palestinians killed in Gaza at its Redmond headquarters; Microsoft said employment ended under internal policy and referred to maintaining a professional and respectful work environment.20 AP reported that both employees were affiliated with No Azure for Apartheid.20 This parent-group employment action does not establish that LinkedIn Corporation dismissed those employees or adopted the conduct as LinkedIn policy.20, 2

AP reported that Microsoft ended Ibtihal Aboussad’s employment after she interrupted an April 2025 anniversary event to protest Microsoft’s Israel-related work, with the reported termination letter characterising her conduct as hostile, inappropriate, aggressive, and disruptive and stating that concerns could have been raised confidentially.21 AP also reported that Vaniya Agrawal, who had already given notice, was required to leave five days before her planned departure, while Microsoft said it supported employee voices that did not cause business disruption.21

AP reported that Microsoft fired software engineer Joe Lopez after he interrupted Satya Nadella’s May 2025 Build keynote to protest Microsoft technology supplied to the Israeli military.22 No Azure for Apartheid’s claim that internal emails containing “Palestine” and “Gaza” were blocked remains an advocacy-group allegation, rather than an adjudicated finding or Microsoft admission.22

AP later reported that Microsoft’s partial September 2025 IMOD service restriction followed employee protests and quoted former employee Hossam Nasr characterising the outcome as significant but insufficient; this does not change the reported bases or company explanations for the dismissals.23

The reports establish Microsoft-parent employment decisions and public explanations, but do not identify LinkedIn Corporation as the employing entity, a LinkedIn HR decision-maker, or a LinkedIn-specific employee-speech policy.20, 21, 22 no public evidence identified in the reviewed material of a court or labour-agency adjudication finding that Microsoft’s October 2024, April 2025, or May 2025 dismissals were unlawful retaliation or discriminatory conduct.20, 21, 22

No public evidence identified of LinkedIn-specific reservist-pay policy, employee-benefit programme, charitable matching to military or settlement organisations, or a military customer deployment in the reviewed sources.4, 17, 18, 19

Brand Heritage & State Partnerships

Microsoft acquired all issued and outstanding LinkedIn Corporation shares on 8 December 2016 for a total purchase price of $27.0 billion, after which LinkedIn’s results were included in Microsoft’s consolidated financial statements.24

Microsoft’s FY2025 Form 10-K continues to describe LinkedIn as a revenue-generating business within the Microsoft group.12 Microsoft reports LinkedIn’s commercial products as Talent Solutions, Marketing Solutions, Premium Subscriptions, and Sales Solutions, with the commercial component reported within Microsoft Cloud revenue.12

LinkedIn’s public platform is used by the Israeli Ministry of Defense through its company page, but the supplied evidence does not establish a paid partnership, enterprise contract, developer deployment, infrastructure grant, logistics contribution, or other state partnership.9

Who Profits documents Microsoft educational services and collaborations involving Ariel University in the occupied West Bank, including software provision, certifications, reported 2022–2025 events, and a 2019 Ma’ale Adumim school collaboration; it also describes military-linked training and events.25 These are attributed parent institutional relationships and are distinct from ordinary IMOD use of a public LinkedIn page.25, 9

No public evidence identified of LinkedIn-specific settlement sponsorship, Israeli state public-relations sponsorship, military contract, free-service programme, crisis-asset mobilisation, or logistics contribution.9, 4, 12

Lobbying, Advocacy, Financing & Logistics

Microsoft’s current public-policy page describes its voluntary U.S. PAC as overseen by a bipartisan steering committee and reports historical trade-association membership disclosures, but does not identify Israel-, Palestine-, occupation-, boycott-, or Palestinian-rights-specific lobbying, PAC contributions, or advocacy partnerships.26

The Federal Election Commission identifies the Microsoft Corporation Political Action Committee / MSVPAC as an active qualified corporate PAC and lobbyist/registrant PAC; the committee overview does not categorise disbursements by Israel/Palestine policy or establish contributions to regional advocacy organisations.27

The targeted LDA review located Microsoft registrations and quarterly reports, including 2021 reports; an “Israel” keyword result was a false lead based on a lobbyist’s name rather than an Israel-policy issue.28 The reviewed LDA material does not establish Microsoft lobbying on Israel, Palestinian rights, occupation, anti-BDS legislation, or related regional policy, although a complete transaction- and issue-level review of every current filing was not completed.28

Microsoft’s human-rights statement says its Board Environmental, Social, and Public Policy Committee reviews government-relations activity, political activities and expenditures, and significant public-policy positions, but it does not identify a conflict-specific decision, donation, or LinkedIn policy.29

The 2025 shareholder-vote material from ADL and JLens is third-party advocacy and must not be relabelled as Microsoft or LinkedIn lobbying, advocacy, or donations.30 The existing record’s lack of a documented Microsoft-specific FIDF payment cannot be converted into a positive donation claim from generic matching-gift eligibility.31

No public evidence identified in the retained corpus and targeted fresh searches of LinkedIn-specific lobbying, PAC spending, regional political donations, or a LinkedIn crisis-resource programme for Israeli state, military, settlement, or state-aligned bodies.26, 27, 28

Hoffman Kofman identifies LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman as a Lead Donor.32 Its post-7-October-2023 appeal states that the organisation donated and raised more than NIS 1,000,000 for urgent missing personal equipment and directs United States donations through American Friends of LIBI.33 The appeal describes the initiative as civilian, but does not identify specific equipment or deliveries, establish Hoffman’s individual contribution or allocation to the appeal, or establish LinkedIn or Microsoft corporate funding.32, 33

American Friends of LIBI states that it supports IDF soldiers and their families and operates with IDF and Israeli Ministry of Defense authorisation; this establishes the recipient organisation’s stated mission, not Hoffman’s donor status.34

Aphorism Foundation’s available 2024 Form 990-PF identifies Reid Hoffman as president and lists Hoffman and Michelle Yee as disqualified persons.35 A full-text review of that 41-page filing found no occurrence of “American Friends of LIBI,” “Israel,” or “FIDF”; this filing-scoped result does not establish the absence of grants through other entities, personal donations, donor-advised funds, or prior-year grants.35 The lead that Aphorism Foundation may have supported American Friends of LIBI in an earlier year was not confirmed through a primary filing and remains unresolved.35

The Gates Foundation reports grants responding to Gaza’s humanitarian crisis in 2023 and 2024.36 Its grant record shows a May 2024 commitment of $2,000,000 to the United States Fund for UNICEF for lifesaving water, sanitation, and hygiene services for civilian populations in Gaza; this is a foundation grant and does not allocate the commitment to Bill Gates personally or identify Microsoft or LinkedIn funding.37

No public evidence identified in targeted searches of a verified Israel/Palestine-related personal donation, defence or surveillance investment, or relevant board role by Satya Nadella or Brad Smith beyond the Microsoft corporate statements described above.6, 7, 8 Targeted name searches did not produce a primary public record establishing a relevant donation, foundation grant, investment, board role, or conflict statement by Ryan Roslansky or Dan Shapero.4, 38, 39

These individual absence findings are search-scoped rather than comprehensive: the review did not complete all personal, family-office, donor-advised-fund, investment-portfolio, social-media, employee-matching-gift, corporate-charitable-grant, or prior-year Aphorism Foundation grant-schedule checks.26, 27, 35

No public evidence identified of a LinkedIn contract, enterprise deployment, infrastructure grant, free-service programme, or logistics contribution for the IDF, Israeli Ministry of Defense, or settlement bodies.9, 4, 12

Corporate Structure & Primary Mission

Microsoft’s FY2025 significant-subsidiary exhibit identifies LinkedIn Corporation in the United States and LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company in Ireland as Microsoft subsidiaries.15 The exhibit is not a complete legal-entity register because it omits subsidiaries that are not significant in the aggregate.15

LinkedIn ceased being a separately listed public issuer following Microsoft’s 2016 acquisition, and Microsoft’s parent-level filings are the reviewed current disclosure source.24, 12

No current LinkedIn-specific board charter, standalone annual report, standalone beneficial-ownership disclosure, or complete current board enumeration was identified in the reviewed corporate records.4, 12, 15

LinkedIn’s 2020 announcement described Microsoft’s acquisition and framed LinkedIn’s purpose as advancing economic opportunity for the global workforce.3

Executive & Leadership Footprint

LinkedIn announced in April 2026 that Dan Shapero became Chief Executive Officer and reports to Ryan Roslansky, Executive Vice President of LinkedIn and Microsoft Office.38

LinkedIn’s corporate information identifies Anthony Chavez as Chief Product Officer, Blake Lawit as Chief Global Affairs & Legal Officer, and Teuila Hanson as Chief People Officer.4 LinkedIn describes Roslansky as a member of Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella’s senior leadership team.39

Microsoft’s FY2025 proxy identifies Nadella as Microsoft Chairman and Chief Executive Officer and Sandra Peterson as Lead Independent Director.40 LinkedIn’s current public information does not disclose a LinkedIn chair or corporate board.4

Microsoft’s 2016 acquisition announcement identified LinkedIn co-founder and then-board chair Reid Hoffman as LinkedIn’s controlling shareholder before Microsoft acquired all outstanding LinkedIn shares.41, 24 A Reuters-syndicated LinkedIn News report stated in June 2026 that Hoffman would exit Microsoft’s board, but it does not provide a complete LinkedIn board or ownership record.42

Brad Smith’s 25 September 2025 communication is a documented public executive statement concerning the conflict-related review and specified IMOD service restrictions.7 Microsoft’s 10 October 2023 employee communication was issued by then-Chief Human Resources Officer Kathleen Hogan with the senior leadership team, rather than as an individual Nadella statement, and does not identify a personal Nadella gift or independent political position.8

Primary-filing clarification, 11 September 2026

The direct reading below resolves and supersedes the earlier paragraph’s unresolved prior-year Aphorism lead and its statement that prior-year grant schedules were not checked; the earlier research limitation remains preserved as the record of that research pass.43

Aphorism Foundation’s Form 990-PF for calendar year 2023 (EIN 46-4347021), Part XIV, section 3a, reports a grant paid during that year of $1,000,000 to American Friends of LIBI for “GENERAL SUPPORT.” The same filing lists Reid Hoffman as president/treasurer/director. This is a documented foundation grant; the filing does not identify a Microsoft or LinkedIn corporate payment, a particular grant-payment date, a restricted equipment purchase, or a recurring commitment.43

American Friends of LIBI describes its purpose as funding welfare, education, religious, social and recreational support for IDF soldiers outside the defence budget. It states that it channels support for IDF-requested projects and works with organisations representing combat units; the listed Brighton address matches the recipient address in Aphorism’s grant schedule. These sources identify a military-welfare channel, but do not trace Aphorism’s particular grant to weapons, equipment, a military unit, or a physical delivery.43, 44

Microsoft’s 2023 annual report lists Hoffman as a director; its 2023 proxy identifies him as LinkedIn co-founder and former chair and as a member of Microsoft’s Environmental, Social, and Public Policy committee. These document his parent-board and public-policy governance role in the grant year, in addition to his LinkedIn founder association; they do not establish personal ownership of the donated foundation funds or sole grant-making authority.45, 46

The reviewed 2024 Form 990-PF has no American Friends of LIBI entry; this is a year-specific non-entry and neither reverses the documented 2023 grant nor establishes a continuing donation. No allocation of that grant to the separate Hoffman Kofman appeal was identified in either filing.35, 43

A direct check of the FEC committee overview on 11 September 2026 identifies MSVPAC as active, with current coverage through 31 July 2026. The overview does not assign a regional-policy purpose to its transactions; the review therefore makes no claim that aggregate PAC expenditure was Israel-related. The retained named LDA and corporate-policy checks did not establish an Israel/Palestine lobbying act; a direct 2026 LDA portal retrieval was inaccessible, so the conclusion remains limited to the reviewed sources rather than every current filing.26, 27, 28
