Key Facts:

Executive Summary

Ferrero’s documented Israel nexus is that of an ordinary consumer-goods exporter. Nutella was first sold in Israel in 1975, and Ferrero says it established formal Israeli operations in 2016 through a distributor, Premium Confectionery & Trading Company Ltd.1 A Holon office and a Holon-based job posting show a local commercial team.2, 3 The ownership and legal form of the distributor were not established across several research passes.1 In September 2025 Ferrero launched Nutella Plant-Based in Israel. That was a product launch, and no Israeli manufacturing site is documented.18

The strongest documented vector is economic. Food Dive reports that Teseo Capital, “an investment fund managed by the Ferrero family,” joined the May 2023 Series C round of DouxMatok (rebranded Incredo). Incredo also announced a joint development agreement with Ferrero, “unrelated to the investment,” with no terms or product details disclosed.4 Milano Finanza and Money.it corroborate Teseo as a Ferrero-family vehicle. Neither source establishes whether Giovanni Ferrero holds a direct stake in it.5, 19 The audits found no update on the agreement’s status.

The political vector is thin and documentary. Il Fatto Alimentare (4 August 2025) names Ferrero among the main Italian food exporters to Israel not changing commercial ties. It gives no Ferrero-specific figures, and its suggestion that Ferrero might stop selling Nutella in Israel is the author’s wish, not a reported fact.20 A coalition led by the Rete Cuneese per la Palestina wrote to Ferrero on 6 December 2025 asking for clarification. Several outlets reported no reply as of 21 January 2026, and later coverage does not revisit the matter.6, 7, 21, 22 No Ferrero statement on Israel, Gaza or Palestine was identified.

The audits found no public evidence of any Ferrero defence contract, dual-use product, Israeli-origin surveillance or security technology, Project Nimbus participation, Israeli R&D centre or settlement-located activity. Ferrero does have a decade-long monitoring relationship with Airbus Defence and Space, but only for agricultural deforestation tracking.23, 24 On this basis the final V6.6 scoring is Military 0.00, Digital 0.00, Economic 6.00 and Political 4.00, giving BRS 522, Tier C (Substantial Complicity).

Corporate Overview

Ferrero SpA is the Italian operating company based in Alba. Ferrero International S.A. is the Luxembourg holding company, registered as RCS B60814 and created on 29 September 1997.11, 12 The LEI record lists Ferrero Trading Lux S.A., Ferrero Middle and Eastern Europe GmbH, Soremartec S.A. and others as subsidiaries. It shows no parent data for Ferrero International.27 Searches by name found no Israel or defence content for the GmbH or for Soremartec.

Reporting on the upstream chain is inconsistent. A 2022 account described Schenkeberg as the controlling holding company. Money.it (March 2026) says Schenkenberg controls 100% of Ferrero International.19 3F’s Holding (formerly Bermic, per EFA News) states it became ultimate parent on 24 February 2025.13, 28 Whether Schenkeberg remains an intermediate layer was not resolved.

Group subsidiaries include Ferrara Candy Company, Thorntons, Keebler, Wells Enterprises and WK Kellogg Co. None was identified as Israel-domiciled or Israel-manufacturing.11 In Israel, Ferrero’s page names Premium Confectionery & Trading Company Ltd as its official distributor, and the Rete Cuneese letter calls the local entity “Ferrero Premium Confectionery & Trading Ltd.”1, 6 The audits could not establish whether Premium is Ferrero-controlled or independent. No Israeli registry record was found, and this gap persisted across several passes.

A search-snippet source indicates the prior importer, Leiman Schlussel, held a 44-year exclusive franchise that ended when Ferrero brought distribution in-house.29 The Times of Israel blog gives the same predecessor and a date about one year later.25 The blog is self-published and cites no documents for its figures. These accounts were not reconciled.

Domain Summaries

Military: Military

Mechanism of Involvement

No mechanism was identified. The audit found no Ferrero contract, tender or memorandum of understanding with Israel’s Ministry of Defense, the IDF, the Israel Prison Service or Border Police. A SIBAT-related search returned nothing on Ferrero.8 The audit found no dual-use classification of its products and no supply relationship with Elbit, IAI, Rafael or IMI. It also found no logistics or catering service to military bases and no munitions or weapons-platform link.

The one defence-adjacent finding is a roughly ten-year commercial relationship with Airbus’s Starling service. Starling tracks about 230,000 cocoa, palm oil and coffee plantations through satellite imagery.23 An Airbus Defence and Space-sponsored FoodNavigator page now confirms that division operates Starling and describes it as “the space and military division of Airbus.” That page does not name Ferrero and is promotional rather than independent.24 Ferrero’s own materials use the looser “Airbus Defense” wording.30 No source describes Starling or Ferrero’s use of it as supporting any targeting, weapons-guidance or other military function.23, 31

Counter-Arguments and Evidence Limits

Ferrero’s defence is straightforward: it makes confectionery, and its Airbus relationship is an agricultural sustainability service whose customers are corporate buyers such as Nestlé and Barry Callebaut.31, 32 Starling’s 2017 launch pilot and Ferrero’s use since 2016 are consistent with that purpose.32, 31

Limits remain. The new Ferrero SpA directors and the other named executives were not individually searched for defence or FIDF ties, so that is an open gap rather than a clearance. A search for Giovanni Ferrero and Friends of the IDF returned no Ferrero-linked result, and his Powerbase profile records no documented involvement under its Israel headings.33

Named Entities and Evidence Map

Digital: Digital

Mechanism of Involvement

No mechanism was identified. Technographic databases show mainstream commercial tools (Google Workspace, Salesforce and SAP-related products, among others).27 Several vendor names are paywalled and unresolved, including a secure-email-gateway category, so no Israeli-origin determination can be made for those entries. The audit found no evidence of Check Point, Wiz, SentinelOne, CyberArk, Nice, Verint, Claroty or Palo Alto relationships, nor of Trigo, BriefCam, AnyVision/Oosto or Trax. It also found no data-centre presence in Israel, no Project Nimbus participation, no Israeli R&D centre or university partnerships, and no AI systems supplied to Israeli state bodies.

Sourcemap supports Ferrero’s supply-chain traceability (EUDR screening), with Airbus Starling imagery cross-referenced. No Israeli origin was found for either, though this was not affirmatively searched.34

Counter-Arguments and Evidence Limits

Ferrero would note that its digital footprint is ordinary enterprise IT. Several shelf-recognition leads (Vision Group Retail, Asseco, Wiser) were tested and did not show a Ferrero connection.35 A search-synthesised Wiser claim was disconfirmed on direct fetch. A “Ferro’s”/Dip Tech item concerns the unrelated Ferro Corporation. Limits: the paywalled vendor identities, the unviewed Rockwell presentation, and the unsearched names of the newer directors. The Sourcemap engagement rests on the vendor’s marketing and trade press, not on Ferrero’s own release.

Economic: Economic

Mechanism of Involvement

Ferrero sells Ferrero Rocher, Kinder, Nutella and Tic Tac in Israel.1 The Holon office is reported at about 1,300–1,500 sq m, commissioned via Azrieli Group. The two sources are not fully reconcilable, and tenure is not documented.2 A Holon job posting corroborates the local team.3 Nutella Plant-Based is distributed “in all retail chains nationwide,” and no Israeli manufacturer or plant is named.18

The second vector is the Incredo relationship described in the Executive Summary: Teseo Capital’s investment and the separate joint development agreement.4 Teseo is a Luxembourg fund with net asset value above €2.3 billion at year-end 2025, chaired by Paola Rossi, described as Giovanni Ferrero’s wife. The sources state no Israel-specific mandate.5, 19 The Turkish boycott page repeated the Incredo and Teseo claims without sourcing, but Food Dive independently documents them.36, 4

The audits found no Israel-specific revenue, profit-repatriation or tax figures, as the group’s consolidated disclosures contain no country breakdown.16

Counter-Arguments and Evidence Limits

Ferrero’s strongest defence is that its Israeli presence is a consumer-goods market business dating to 1975. No plant, R&D centre or settlement link is documented, and no Ferrero appearance in the UN settlement-business database was identified.10, 37 That absence rests on secondary coverage: the primary annex could not be retrieved. A Who Profits check was inconclusive rather than a confirmed absence.38, 39 Ferrero is also not on the Ethical Consumer Palestine boycott list or on the BHRRC boycott tracker as retrieved, both source-scoped checks.40, 41 The Il Fatto Alimentare piece offers no Ferrero-specific figures.20

The Incredo agreement is thinly documented. The Business Wire and Startup Nation Central confirmations were blocked, and the agreement’s current status is unknown.4 Whether Premium is Ferrero-owned or independent remains unresolved. A claimed January 2025 price-rise report and associated registry records could not be found.

Named Entities and Evidence Map

Political: Political

Mechanism of Involvement

Ferrero’s own Israel page and its September 2025 newsroom post present Israel as an ordinary market, and no Ferrero statement on the conflict was identified.1, 18 Il Fatto Alimentare, as above, lists Ferrero among the exporters not changing trade ties, after the 2024 ICJ opinion and ICC warrants.20 The Rete Cuneese letter asked four questions: whether Ferrero has Israeli commercial relations beyond local distribution, whether it has Israeli supply, research or technology agreements, whether it has sites in occupied territories, and whether it will publish a conflict-context social-responsibility policy.6 The coalition reportedly includes over forty organisations.7, 21 A letter to the editor from the president of the Associazione Italia-Israele di Cuneo opposed the request.42

Ferrero does engage publicly on other policy. It joined the October 2025 multi-company EUDR letter and published its own 10 November 2025 EUDR statement.43, 30 Its EU lobbying is registered at EUR 400,000–499,999 for the closed 2024–25 year, with 11 Commission meetings on topics such as cocoa, EUDR and customs.44 A German register entry (R004584) exists for Ferrero Deutschland GmbH, covering EU, climate and agriculture topics. US lobbying, per a secondary source, concerns SNAP, sourcing and trade.45, 46 None of these touches Israel.

Counter-Arguments and Evidence Limits

Ferrero’s defence is that it has made no political statement on Israel and has taken no known position in the conflict. Its lobbying is confined to food, agriculture and trade policy. The Rete letter was framed as a request for clarification, not an accusation. Silence for six weeks is not proof of a final refusal, as no outlet reports the matter closed.22, 26 No verifiable BDS campaign naming Ferrero was located. The L’Indipendente list does not include it, and the Turkish page names no organisation or date.47, 36 No FEC/PAC or donation link to IDF, FIDF, JNF or similar bodies was identified.

Limits: the Il Fatto Alimentare characterisation is secondary and unverified against trade data. The LobbyFacts figures were not checked against the primary EU register. The unfetched snippet about the Bundestag register’s zero EU spend is an unreconciled discrepancy. Fondazione Ferrero’s finances and recipients could not be retrieved, and the page that was read mentions no Israel or Palestine content.48 The two US “Ferrero” foundations checked are unrelated namesakes, and no link to the family was established.

V_MAX comes from Economic. The Holon commercial office and local team fit the Operational Presence band (Impact 6.0), and the Israeli-Nexus Floor does not apply because no settlement link, plant or R&D centre is documented. Political is Business-as-Usual (Impact 4.0, top of band), as Ferrero’s communications present Israel as an ordinary market. Neither the Military nor the Digital audit identified a mechanically eligible frame, so both score zero. The tier follows from V_MAX of 6.00 plus 0.2 × Avg_OTHERS, giving 522. The score is evidence-only, scale-free and human-vetted, and the numbers are fixed.
